09/29/13 - 1 year later and still basking in the afterglow. Thanks again to all in the Reunion Committee.

10/1/12 - About the Reunion - I am speechless. All I can manage to say for now about the reunion weekend is "WOW" ! It was an amazing time.

I can't even begin to say "Thank You" enough times to the great Reunion Committee. You Guys and Gals did yeoman work, and it will be forever appreciated. And to each and every one of you, I will simply say "Thanks for the Memories".

9/1/12 - After HPHS I attended Purdue University and later the Illinois Institute of Technology. Studied Computer Science in it's nascent days.

Met my wonderful partner, Jay, in 1967. We're both pilots and owned our own plane for a while in the 1970's. He was in the convention management business, and later did Video and Audio Production. It's been an amazing 45 years.

I worked in my family business, Montrose Paper, from 1965 until it's closing in 1996. After that I worked a short while for Circuit City before moving to Palm Springs, CA in 2001. I currently work at Carpet Empire Plus and have been there since coming to Palm Springs. Besides the normal administrative responsibilities, I currently am supervising the rehabilitation and renovation of a 40 plus year old 14,000 square foot building for our new showroom and design center.
UPDATE: We moved in to our new building Feb. 4th and had our grand opening Mar. 28th, 2013.

The move to Palm Springs was pretty much like throwing a dart at the map. I had never been here and Jay was here only once in the late 50's. We literally bought our condo sight unseen. We figured we would give it a year, and if it didn't work out we would try somewhere else. Of course, when you have a good Plan B, it's never needed. We have absolutely fallen in love with Palm Springs and the Desert. The only things that didn't meet our expectations exceeded them.

I've become active in City affairs, having served 4 years on the Palm Springs International Airport Commission, and am currently serving a 3 year term on the Palm Springs Administrative Appeals Board.

In the political arena, I worked intensively on Mayor Steve Pougnet's Congressional Campaign 2 years ago. When that was unsuccessful, I worked hard to make sure he was re-elected as our Mayor.

You can occasionally hear me on KNEWS radio chatting with my good friend "Bulldog" Bill Feingold on his daily 3 hour show.

In short, life is good.

School Story:

My freshman Biology teacher John Broming was quite the task master. But boy oh boy, he taught me how to learn, a talent that has stayed with me my entire life.

I also remember Mr. Stunkel from freshman Algebra, and Mr. Guthrie from English quite fondly. Like others here I remember Richard Ault very well. After a track meet with one particularly bad call against our team, he taught us the art of losing gracefully.

From Braeside grade school I fondly recall Mr. Shorb whose personality and talent could have taught anything to anyone.

There were many others, but the bottom line is that we all had the finest primary and secondary education ever to come from the public school system. We are indeed fortunate.

Hello Dick,

Just re-read your bio and it is fascinating. One of these days, and it doesn't need to be a birthday, we must catch up. Best wishes for a happy and healthy year.

Happy Birthday to my younger brother. (Well, younger by 2 months or so). Hope you and Eileen get to Palm Springs this winter. I would love to get together for lunch or whatever.

Happy birthday, Stuart. Hope you like Palm Springs. I lived there five years in the 90s, got an interesting job as tech manager for a high pressure mist system. You look hale and hearty. Sometime try to catch sunrise in the upper-higher parts of Desert Hot Springs. Beautiful view back of Palm Springs and massive sets of elegant wind turbines to the west. All the best, Phil

Just read of your recent illness. I am certainly happy that things are back to normal. It sounded really scary. All my best.

So sad to hear of Chris's passing.  We were only casual friends in high school but I remember him as always smiling and happy.

Lynn, Thank you for posting the sad news of Harvey's passing.  He was a great guy and one we will all miss.  I think your quote of him saying "Why stop at one?" was the epitomy of his life.  Harvey - we will miss you greatly.
